G old Denmark 20 Kroner coins are relatively common and are readily available for low premiums. The main denominations are the 10 Kroner and 20 Kroner coins with slight variations being available. The coins are .900 fine Gold and struck by the Den Kongelige Mønt, Copenhagen. All coins were used for circulation and was part of the Scandinavian Monetary Union
The most iconic design from the Danish Gold Kroner range is that of Christian IX which features the iconic porpoise. The character displayed on this design is Dania, being a female personification of Denmark much like Britain's Britannia. In Dania's hand is a sceptre while she bears a shield with the Danish coat of arms displayed. A porpoise symbolises Denmark's affinity with the seas
