Mexican Gold Libertads
S truck by the Banco de México, the Gold Libertad series is iconic and highly desired. The first Gold Libertad coin was minted in 1981 in a brilliant uncirculated finish. Proof and reverse proof versions are also manufactured and are very popular with collectors
The Gold Libertad coins have a much higher premium than other Gold bullion coins such as the Gold Britannia due to the limited mintages each year which creates scarcity in the secondary market. This ensures that the Gold Libertad series trades at a premium to its international peers
Unlike series such as the Gold Kangaroo coins, the Gold Libertad does not change its design annually. The iconic Winged Victory statue, a key symbol of the Mexican people, with Mexican volcanoes in the background have become symbolic of the Gold Libertad coins
This design has been used annually since 1995. Before this a design, the Gold Libertad was based on the historical Centenario coin. The Banco de México introducing its first proof finish version in 1983 and released the first reverse proof design in 2018

Reverse proof, or frosted, Gold Libertad coins are amongst the finest pure Gold coins in the world. The reverse proof range has only been in production since 2018 with only 1/2oz and 1oz denominations available
