1962 Gold Sovereigns

T he 1962 Gold Sovereign features Queen Elizabeth II and is slightly unique insofar that it is the coin that marks the tenth year of Queen Elizabeth II's reign. Although Queen Elizabeth II's coronation was 1953, she became Queen in 1952

Further, the 1962 Gold Sovereign represents the resumption in Sovereign issuance after the Royal Mint stopped producing the coins in 1960 and 1961. The design featured on the coin was discontinued in 1968 with Gold Sovereigns not being produced again until 1974 which features a different portrait of her majesty

What is the value of a 1962 Gold Sovereign?

The 1962 Gold Sovereign is worth more than just its Gold content. Both the full and half Sovereigns command a small premium above the Gold price. Auronum offers a higher premium for coins minted in the 1960s relative to coins issued in the most recent years

Both Full and Half 1962 Gold Sovereigns were not put into circulation and therefore are nearly always offered to market in near mint condition. The young and uncrowned portrait of Queen Elizabeth is a popular design with collectors, making this piece relatively easy to sell

The prices to the right are live offers that Auronum will pay for any sellers of a 1962 Sovereign coin, the prices change with the underlying Gold spot market and therefore are accurate reflections of what a 1962 Gold Sovereign is worth.
