A new era for British Sovereigns began with the release of the Memorial Sovereign which was the first to feature King Charles III. He then appeared on another special year design which featured a crowned effigy in 2023, this is known as the Coronation Sovereign. The 2024 coin then featured the King in a natural uncrowned pose which is now the standard portrait for Charles III
