T he classic Austrian Gold bullion coin, the Vienna Philharmonic derives its name from the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra. The coin was first struck in 1989 and had a face value denominated in Austrian Shillings. 2002 saw this change to the Euro currency. The obverse of the coin may be mistaken for a grand building but the design features the pipe organ from Goldener Saal.
