The first US gold coin to even be put in circulation and known by collectors as the Capped Bust Eagle. The design shows Miss Liberty facing Right with a Small Eagle reverse. This is the first of two types of half Dollar Gold Capped Bust Eagles. The arrangement of the stars is mostly 10 to the left and five to the right, but a 1797 rarity has 16 stars arranged 11 to the left and five to the right.
The reverse of this coin has a small eagle which has copied from an ancient cameo. The mintage for this type of Capped Bust Half Eagle is 18,512 with records showing several hundred survivors, most of which is the 1795 issue. This beautiful piece is .9167 fine with a total weight of 8.75g
