The $2.5 Indian Head Eagle coin type (1908-1929) is also known as the Indian head Quarter Dollar is a very popular piece. Its release in 1908 reportedly caught the public offguard as there was no forewarning of a design change. The new Eagle design was to feature an Indian Chief and has an innovative incuse design which saw raised fields, the exact opposite to its predecessor Liberty Head Eagle
The raised fields on the $2.5 piece caused wear to occur quickly which is the main reason these coins are rarely seen in a high mint state grade. The type collector should fine almost uncirculated and very fine examples easy to obtain
