Adolf Friederich V of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1848–1914) was the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, a small but historically significant duchy in northern Germany. He ruled from 1904 until his death in 1914, during a time of relative stability in Europe before the outbreak of World War I. This coin was struck in the year following Adolf’s first year in power
The Adolf Friedrich Gold 20 Marks is an extremely rare type of just 1,000 coins known. A small mintage of 160 proof coins are also known but command a very high premium when seen in the market. Rarely offered in any condition but according to records the highest graded survivor of this type is a MS61
