Albert became King of Saxony during October 1873 following the death of his father, King Johann. King Albert did not have any children and consequently his brother Georg became his heir.
Gold 20 Marks featuring Albert of Saxony has a total mintage of 637,745 coins. Some mint state examples are known, but the coins are typically in circulated condition. This type is difficult to obtain and trades at a modest premium when offered to the market. Proof coins are reported but mintage data for these is undocumented
