Wilhelm II featured on the German Gold 20 Marks from 1889 through to 1915. This type is significant as it was only struck for three-years. The design of Wilhelm II was changed to a uniform bust on the 1913 20 mark and was used until 1915. The outbreak of the world war I halted production of Gold Marks. The war ended in 1918 which coincided with Wilhelm II being abdicted from the German throne. Hence 1915 was the final year he appeared on the Gold German Mark coin
The short issuance of this type led to a relatively small mintage of 3,404,916 coins known. The uniform bust is popular with European Gold collectors and trades at a modest premium given it is less common than other types that frequent the British market
