The 2017 3-coin proof sovereign set complete with full, half and quarter sovereigns in their original Royal Mint casing. The 3-coin proof sovereign set is highly very popular with collectors, especially those who collect special-year types. The set was released as a single-year special design to celebrate the 200th year anniversary of the first modern-day sovereign released in 1817
The Royal Mint sanctioned just 1,000 sets of the 2017 proof sovereign, making them a highly contested Gold proof Sovereign set. Whilst the mintage of these sets seems low, it is higher than its predecessor the 2012 proof 3-coin sovereign set which was limited to 750. The three coins, which features the double, full and half sovereigns, has a total coin weight of 27.958g of which 25.6284g is fine Gold
