The 2025 Sovereign was struck as the standard St. George and dragon Sovereign as well as a special year shieldback design. This 2025 was the only bullion Gold Sovereign struck that year as the shield design was a “proof only” collector’s piece. Despite the standard deisgn, this coin is significant in the Gold Sovereign series as it is the final Sovereign to be struck with rose Gold. This was announced by the Royal Mint at the time of official release in 2024. This likely led to higher demand than usual for a standard Sovereign which will lead to high mintages in the market
