The Gold Colombian 2.5 peso coin struck in .9167 fine Gold is a small gem from Latin America. The Casa de Moneda de Colombia minted the 2.5 peso between 1924 through to 1929. Official mintage figures have been lost to history but they seem to frequent the market less than the larger Gold Colombian Cinco peso
The obverse of the coin features Simon Bolivar, a miliatary leader that was key to Latin America’s independence from Spain. The reverse of the coin shows the Colombian coat of arms with the purity, weight and ‘LEY’ which singals: (by order of) Law
