The Gold Cuban cuatro peso is a rare Cuban Gold Peso coin that is very difficult to source. The bullion mintage for this type is 134,000 which was struck in 1915 (6,000 bullion, 300 proof) 1916 (128,000 bullion, 760 proof). The coin shares the same design as seen on larger denominations such as the Cuban Gold cinco peso which showcases the Cuban Royal Arms. These coins were used as currency in Cuba whilst the country was under a Gold standard and so may display some highpoint wear
The coins have a total mass of 6.6872g of .900 Gold. The reverse of the coin features the effigy of José Martí, a significant figure in Cuba’s independence from Spain. Latin American coinage is typical for displaying lady Liberty on their coinage which makes Cuba one of the outliers in the region by showcasing a national figure instead
