A rare large gold denomination from the Gold Colombian peso range. This Gold Estados Unidos De Colombia 20 Pesos was struck at various Colombian Mints between 1862 through to 1878. Each coin from this range shows the name of the Mint from where it was struck on the reverse of the coin. Examples struck at the Popayan Mint during this period are notoriously crude yet the highest certified grades for the type are from the Popayan Mint
This type, when seen, is typically circulated with high-point wear, rim nicks and contact marks. Many mint state examples exist but are highly contested and so command a high premium. This style of Colombian peso coins are .900 fine Gold which was common in the region at the time. The veinte peso has a total mass of 32.2581g. Mintage for this type is unknown
