A very rare one-year type from Liechtenstein dated 1898. The Gold Liechtenstein 20 Kronen is a highly contested piece that is hardly ever seen in the British market. It weighs 6.775g and .900 fine Gold. The coins that are seen are almost always in a Mint state which indicates that these were likely struck as diplomatic gifts rather than anything that was meant for circulation
The coins had a total mintage of 1500 although 35 Essai or pattern coins were struck first. These pieces trade at very high premiums when seen in the market. A pattern version can be identified by seeing the word ‘Essai’ on the coin’s reverse
