The 2025 Half-Sovereign celebrates 200 years of history, showcasing Jean Baptiste Merlen’s Royal Arms design, first seen on the Sovereign two centuries ago. Remastered with cutting-edge technology, the reverse features Merlen’s intricate design, while the obverse displays His Majesty King Charles III’s official portrait by Martin Jennings—appearing together on a Half-Sovereign for the first time
This edition is particularly special as the final Half-Sovereign to be struck in rose gold by The Royal Mint. Each coin includes a booklet detailing The Sovereign’s history and Merlen’s legacy, making it a fitting tribute to both heritage and artistry. The 2025 Half-Sovereign had 1,500 sold individually but when sets are also accounted for, the half sovereign has a mintage of 3,035 coins, making it a much rarer piece than the proof 2025 full Sovereign
