The 2025 Piedfort Sovereign honors 200 years of history with Jean Baptiste Merlen’s Royal Arms design, first featured on The Sovereign two centuries ago. Remastered with advanced technology, it showcases Merlen’s design on the reverse and His Majesty King Charles III’s portrait by Martin Jennings on the obverse—appearing together on a Piedfort Sovereign for the first time.
This edition is particularly significant as the final Piedfort Sovereign to be struck in rose gold by The Royal Mint. This 2025 Piedfort Sovereign has a reported mintage of 1,250 with a maximum of 1,260 which suggests 10 coins were reserved for sets
