The Gold Tunisian 10 Francs coin is a small Gold issue of 3.22g of .900 fine Gold. These coins were struck at the Paris Mint between 1891 – 1902 and were used as currency in Tunisia. The type is intriguing insofar that most coins were struck in 1891 with very small mintages following in the remaining years of the 10 Francs production.
Whilst the coins were struck to a bullion finish, at least one proof coin is known which was likely a special issue for important figures of state. The Latin text on the coin’s reverse translates to ‘Regency of Ali in Tunis 10 Francs’
